The “House of Bethany” is a filial house of the Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX) in the Philippines. It is a formation house for young ladies who aspire to become religious in the Tradition. It was founded in 1997 by Father Daniel Couture, SSPX District Superior of Asia. Since the year 2003 the House of Bethany has been internally governed by the Oblate Sisters of the Society of Saint Pius X under the administration of the same SSPX priests.
The principal aim of the “House of Bethany” is to offer preliminary training to ladies who have a religious vocation for any of the female Traditional religious orders or congregations that are recommended by the SSPX throughout the world.
Due to the fact that there are no traditional formation houses for women in the Philippines, it has been deemed necessary that the “Bethanians” should undergo a period of screening and training for a year and a half or more in order to meet the requirements demanded by the foreign religious communities to which they are called to join. Filipino ladies who have been at least a year in the Tradition and have the required qualities can join the House of Bethany. It is also open to non-Filipino Traditional ladies who may wish to experience the life of “Bethany”.
The “House of Bethany” is placed under the patronage of “Our Mother of Perpetual Help” |
